Wisconsin State Cranberry Growers Association
When the Wisconsin State Cranberry Growers Association received an inquiry from ABC World News Tonight about interviewing several Wisconsin cranberry growers, the Association turned to Zeppos & Associates. The firm's staff traveled to "Cranberry Country" in Central Wisconsin, provided growers with likely questions and answers and conducted practice sessions. Several growers underwent simulated interviews to help them tailor their messages and practice responding to media questions. The growers expressed that the training helped them feel confident for the upcoming interviews. In the end, the network interviewed five industry representatives, and the effort resulted in a positive and lengthy piece on Wisconsin cranberries airing nationwide in the days before the Thanksgiving holiday.
Wisconsin United for Mental Health
When Wisconsin United for Mental Health, a statewide coalition of organizations working to create awareness of mental health issues, was formed, it called upon Zeppos & Associates to conduct a media training program for those involved in the group. The program for the new organization focused on developing messages, preparing for interviews and effectively working with the media to generate the desired coverage. A group of more than 20 mental health professionals participated in the training session. Through mock interviews, group discussions and easy-to-follow tactics, participants learned to anticipate and be prepared to respond to questions about mental health issues. The result is a statewide network of representatives who are well-prepared to work with the media and feel more comfortable answering media questions.
