When Connections Academy wanted to partner with the Appleton Area School District to establish Wisconsin Connections Academy, a virtual charter school in Wisconsin, it asked Zeppos & Associates to create an integrated communications plan to inform key audiences about the new school. The team developed a strategic media relations and public relations plan to support the organization's objectives, which included gaining government support for the program, promoting the new school to possible students, coordinating media relations for the school and more. Zeppos & Associates' efforts helped the new school to gain public support and ultimately open for the 2002-2003 school year. In addition, Zeppos & Associates also coordinated WCA's ambitious Year 2 student recruitment plan including organizing informational sessions around the state, which helped to more than double applications for the 2003-2004 school year over the previous year.
When a telecommunications association needed to communicate a fast and strong message about an item in the state's budget, the group turned to Zeppos & Associates to design a government communications strategy and target key audiences with the message to "take immediate action." The firm's team quickly developed key messages and used them to craft several creative and attention-getting 30-second radio issue ads that ran in strategically selected markets. The effort resulted in significant media coverage and literally hundreds of calls flooding the State Capitol demanding "action." The ads ran for only a few days, when the Governor announced the item would be removed from the budget.
