Zeppos & Associates team members accepted an Award of Merit from the Association for Women in Communications in the Special, One-Time Print Communication category for their work on the 2004 Bradley Center Report to the Community. As the first report of its kind for Milwaukee's No. 1 downtown entertainment destination, the document contained the Bradley Center's annual fiscal information and highlighted the facility's recent achievements.

Zeppos & Associates also conducted training to assist spokespeople in handling media interviews regarding the report.

Coverage included a cover story and color photos on the front page of Milwaukee's leading business newspaper, a story in the state's largest daily newspaper, a leading story on a local 10:00 p.m. television newscast, and other print and online publicity. Total publicity value was approximately $15,440 and resulted in nearly 350,000 impressions.

Racine's Vote for Cleaner Energy
Zeppos & Associates earned an Award of Excellence in the category of Public Affairs for its work with Responsible Energy for Southeastern Wisconsin's Tomorrow (RESET), a group opposing a power plant expansion on the shores of Lake Michigan. As the Racine City Council prepared to voice its opinion on the proposal, RESET turned to Zeppos & Associates to help demonstrate broad opposition to the expansion and secure a "no" vote. Zeppos & Associates developed and executed a multifaceted, strategic public affairs plan that included grassroots organizing, media outreach, targeted communications and more. The effort's centerpiece was the high-profile March for Cleaner Energy, in which business and environmental leaders led more than 200 citizens through the streets of Racine to the City Hall hearing. The effort was a success, with opponents dominating both City Council discussion and media coverage. Most importantly, the Council voted 11-3 against the expansion.

The combined efforts of RESET and Zeppos & Associates resulted in more than $100,000 in publicity coverage with many Wisconsin daily papers covering the event, as well as local TV and the Chicago Tribune.

Live: from Wisconsin's Cranberry Harvest
An Award of Merit was presented to team members for their work on the 2003 Wisconsin cranberry harvest. The firm assisted the Wisconsin State Cranberry Growers Association (WSCGA) by coordinating media relations around the state. Because Wisconsin TV stations often find traveling to the remote harvest location a challenge, Zeppos & Associates worked to develop satellite interview opportunities to bring the harvest to the TV stations. Seven satellite interviews featuring three different cranberry growers or industry representatives were broadcast to more than 178,000 viewers throughout the state.

The efforts also resulted in substantial print coverage that included Reader's Digest and television stories in Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, Kansas and beyond.

Zeppos & Associates team members accepted a First Place Award from the Association for Women in Communications in the Special Event/Special Promotion-Corporate category for their work on the 2003 Bead&Button Show, held in Downtown Milwaukee. The firm was responsible for creating a buzz around the show to generate media coverage and increase attendance. Zeppos & Associates arranged for both live and in-studio interviews with local TV stations as well as regional print coverage and photo features.

The end result was a 44 percent increase in attendance from the previous year and more than $86,000 in publicity coverage.
